Sancta Maria Abbey (Nunraw Abbey)

We are a small community of Roman Catholic monks of the Order of Cistercians of the Strict Observance [OCSO] dedicated to seeking God and following the Gospel in prayer and work.

We live a contemplative monastic life and so the main focus of our living is the celebration of the liturgy throughout the day, with periods for personal prayer and study combined with work.

Groups and individuals do use our premises for day retreats and even longer periods. Some of the guests ask to speak to one of the community if they have a need.

Guest rooms

The monastery guest house is for all men and women of every religion, every  denomination.

It is for those who want to have a quiet time, those who want to stay away from their regular environment, leaving their normal routine of life and be alone with God for a while, sharing, to some degree, in the spirituality of the  monks.

Spiritual talks and sacramental confessions are provided for those who come to our guest house, on request. 
The environment is very conducive for your personal retreats/private prayers and other spiritual exercises for your spiritual nourishments and refreshments.

Our guest house is on two floors with views over the grounds with a prayer room on the top floor.

We have 8 rooms on  two floors

• 6 SINGLE rooms available including a disabled access room on the ground floor.

• 2 FAMILY ROOMS with 3 SINGLE beds, all with en-suite facilities. Full board available
