Loving God, Living Simply, Living Deeply

This year, the Church celebrates a special Jubilee Year for St. Francis of Assisi – marking 800 years since his death. St. Francis, known for his love of God, creation and the poor, lived a counter-cultured life of simplicity and poverty. His detachment from material goods, status and power brought him the graces of freedom of heart, inner peace and confidence that came from complete trust in God’s merciful love.

An opportunity to reflect on St. Francis’ lifestyle and consider how we might receive the graces that St. Francis embodied so powerfully.

Our reflections will be guided by Sarah Gardner – an ecologist with a background in agriculture and environmental economics and Catherine Nelson – a practising Christian skilled in movement and meditation techniques which help bring people into the presence of God.  Following a life-threatening illness, Catherine left her job in financial media and volunteered for 20 years in an inter-faith mission in India helping to raise a local village out of grinding poverty.
